Collin McKean is an award-winning attorney and a driving force at McKean Smith. A strategist and trusted advocate, Collin combines sharp business acumen with deep legal insight to deliver results in business transactions, estate and family planning, and civil litigation across Oregon and Washington.
With a background in accounting and finance, Collin brings clarity to high-stakes disputes where numbers tell the story, particularly in partnership breakups and intricate financial conflicts. His approach is both analytical and empathetic: he understands that behind every case are real people, real emotions, and real futures. Collin’s mission is simple yet profound - deliver solutions that protect his clients’ interests while honoring their values.
“"I’ve learned that the hardest part of any legal battle isn’t the law - it’s the uncertainty. My job is to replace that uncertainty with clarity and confidence, so you can focus on what matters most in your life."
Collin’s commitment to excellence is rooted in his upbringing, watching his father practice law in an agricultural community in Central Washington. That early influence shaped his belief that great lawyers combine compassion with creativity and precision. Today, Collin exemplifies that philosophy, offering level-headed counsel and innovative solutions to even the most intractable disputes. Further demonstrating his dedication to service, Collin serves as Treasurer of both the Military and Veterans Law Section of the Oregon State Bar and also the Oregon Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, going the extra mile to support those who have served our community and those who endeavor to strengthen our community.
Outside the courtroom, Collin’s drive for challenge and adventure continues - he’s climbed Mount Rainier and enjoys skiing, swimming, and exploring new destinations. His life reflects the same principles he brings to his practice: resilience, determination, and a passion for achieving the summit.
