On March 18, 2020, the Federal Housing Finance Agency directed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to suspend residential foreclosures and evictions for 60 days. Governor Brown issued a similar order halting all residential evictions for nonpayment for 90 days on March 22, 2020, in light of the public health emergency caused by COVID-19.

In addition to the disastrous health impact COVID-19 will have on the country, the financial repercussions have already taken root leaving many people questioning whether they will be able to pay their rent or their mortgage.
