In light of the quickly changing COVID-19 (coronavirus), McKean Smith offices are taking careful precautions to keep the health and safety of our team and clients our top priority. While McKean Smith will continue to operate at full capacity during this time, we support the safety guidelines from both local and federal health authorities.

We have implemented the Firm’s structured capability for employees to work remotely while remaining fully functional, in order to continue to serve our clients from their own homes. We are also open to new business and have full capability to meet with current and potential new clients by phone or video-conferencing and can also offer some in-person meetings, upon request, to support our clients.

While McKean Smith supports the integrity of our community health and the currently needed safety measures, we also live in a world where many of our clients are not safe in their own homes due to intimate partner violence. As always, we are here to support the unique needs of each of our clients and our offices remain open and safe spaces for all. To that end, we are taking extra steps to sterilize and clean all equipment, furniture, and appliances in our offices several times each day.

We are offering our clients who have scheduled appointments the opportunity to have face to face web conferencing if they are practicing social distancing. If you have an appointment scheduled and prefer to connect with your lawyer via web-conference instead, please call our offices and our staff will assist you in doing so.

We are providing regular updates to our staff regarding the latest changes in COVID-19 data and information to stay prepared and make changes to our firm plans as needed.

State and Federal Courts are also implementing new rules and policies in order to prioritize remote appearances and protect the community and participants. These new changes are likely to impact the scheduling of our legal matters with hearings and trials, but we remain ready to obtain any emergency orders that our clients may need from the courts.

During this time of uncertainty, McKean Smith wants our staff and clients and their families to stay as safe and healthy as possible. We are all in this together. McKean Smith will do its part to support our community and encourage you all to do the same. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.

Take care of yourself and take care of each other.
