Stephan’s background has been focused primarily on corporate law involving business transactions, general business representation, and litigation, as well as experience in tax law, contract law, and civil litigation. Prior to joining McKean Smith, Stephan worked with the Oregon Taxpayer’s Clinic and the Oregon Department of Justice within the Tax and Finance department. Stephan focuses on supporting small and medium sized businesses in Oregon, advising them from development through establishment to ensure their long-term success. Stephan’s hands-on approach allows him to truly understand his clients’ needs and perspectives so that he can meet them where they are and best represent them.

Stephan’s interests include community engagement involving houselessness and small business matters and enjoys being outdoors as much as he can. When he is not in the office you can find him hiking with his dog Ahsoka, as well as camping, rafting, and snowboarding. He also enjoys traveling and reading.
