Katrina Lind Kubat is a family law attorney and children’s advocate with expertise in high-conflict litigation and trauma-informed care. Her focus is on helping families navigate the legal system during some of the most emotionally complex and vulnerable times in their lives.
Before joining McKean Smith, Katrina worked for nearly three years as a prosecutor in Oregon and as an Assistant Attorney General in Washington, where she focused on cases of domestic violence and child abuse. She has handled hundreds of challenging matters involving restraining orders, child removals in dependency matters, and civil commitments for individuals facing serious mental health concerns. Katrina brings to her clients not only litigation experience, but also the calm, steady presence needed in moments of crisis. Known for her poise in the courtroom, she is also recognized for sitting cross-legged on the floor of the courthouse hallways, comforting a child or victim before guiding them to testify about the most painful moments of their lives.
Katrina is a graduate of Willamette University College of Law, where she was recognized with the Dean’s Merit Award, Diversity in Law Award, Jean Risely Education Foundation Award, and the Pro Bono Honors Award for over 120 hours of public service. During law school, she served on the Oregon Child Welfare Review Board and worked in the Willamette Immigration Clinic, where she assisted unaccompanied minors in applying for asylum and protection under the Convention Against Torture.
Originally from rural La Pine, Oregon, Katrina is proud to call the Pacific Northwest home. When she’s not in her suit, you can usually find her in ripped jeans, a band t-shirt, and old sneakers, frequenting Portland’s historic movie theaters or browsing the aisles of Movie Madness, striking up conversations about cult classics and forgotten horror gems. She lives with her husband and two cats, Nadja and Wednesday, who often moonlight as her unofficial co-counsel, helping others make the law feel more approachable—and much less intimidating.
Katrina is known for meeting every client with warmth, clarity, and determination. She believes deeply that everyone deserves to be heard—no matter who they are or where they come from.
